Hiking days season 2 Also in my second season I am again in Saxony and Bohemia on smaller and bigger tours. Whether Saxon- Bohemian Switzerland, Erzgebirge or around Dresden you can accompany me on my hikes. Episode 1: The rafting trail in the Kirnitzschtal - Part 1 This time it goes into the beautiful Kirnitzschtal. Here you will find the so called "Rafting Trail" which was built between 1958 and 1966 by the then "Young Tourist Station" under the direction of Günther Schultz. Starting at the mouth of the Elbe in Bad Schandau, it leads 13 km through the Kirnitzsch valley up to the Neumann mill and thus keeps the memory of the rafting trade in this region alive. Click on it to watch Episode 2: The rafting route in the Kirnitzschtal - part 2 I continue on my hike along the raft path. The forester's lodge as a nice inn, the Ostrauer Mühle, the Waldhäus'l and the tram depot are still waiting for me. The climb is also much more difficult and there are some small climbing passages included. The last few kilometres to Bad Schandau it runs as a panorama trail parallel to the Kirnitzschtalstraße. Click on it to watch Episode 3: The terrace paths - Part 1 The Terraced Trail lies above the village of Schmilka and winds its way along a narrow band of sandstone rocks as a lower and upper terraced trail. It is signposted as a climbing access with the black triangle. On both levels it leads several kilometres through the Saxon Switzerland National Park. Here you need to be sure-footed and free from giddiness. Sturdy shoes are a prerequisite here. Several boofers are located here on this narrow path. The Schrammtor is one of three large rock openings here in the Schrammstein chain. Via the Schrammsteinweg I reach the Wildschützensteig which I naturally climb up as it is one of the most beautiful trails in Saxon Switzerland. At the top I continue my way towards the Schrammstein view. From here you have a wonderful view of the high and middle Torstein and the Falkenstein, which belongs to the Schrammstein chain. On my further hiking trail I visit the breakfast place off the tourist paths. Here I cook my delicious New Year's meal. There is duck breast with dumplings and red cabbage. At the end I hike a bit over the ridge path of the Schrammsteine, descend over the Jägersteig back to the valley and finish my tour by practicing shooting range. It continues on the knot path up to the Hockstein, a medieval fortification. From here you have a magnificent view of the Polenz Valley and over to Hohnstein Castle. Finally, I climb down through the Wolfsschlucht gorge into the Polenz valley, which I follow for 3 km down the valley and finally climb back onto the back of the goat.
